๐ŸŒ… The (New) Largest Solar Plant in the World

India is looking to create the largest solar plant in the world called the Dholera Solar Power Plant. Eventually, it will produce five GigaWatts of energy. Estimates vary on cost and timeline, with one expected investment of around $3.4 billion and project completion in 2027.

The project is expected to create 20,000 jobs and create a hub of energy for a smart city in the area. But some engineers are worried about the location, particularly the salinity issues in the region and corrosive nature of the air which could lead to significantly increased maintenance costs.

The park will be divided into 11 blocks, utilizing poly-crystalline silicon collar photovoltaic module technology, with an attempt to use more renewables.

India is big on solar, and already has the current largest solar farm in the world in Bhadla. This one would more than double it.

What do you think of the future of solar for power generation?

๐Ÿ† CAREER TIPS

๐ŸŽข Becoming a More Creative Engineer

Are engineers creative? Yes, yes they are!

Engineers create products, services, and processes that influence people every single day. Whether your work goes into consumer applications, devices, or machines, the end product of engineering work is used by other people. As they create and utilize new ideas every day, engineers can't help but be creative!

Engineers need to constantly find new ways to think outside the box, reframe problems, and tackle new challenges. They have the fabulous opportunity and responsibility of imagining ways in which the world could be different and then creating ways to make that happen. That is at the heart of what creativity is all about and it should be inspiring and exciting for engineers. For example, engineering innovations have been a big part of healthcare improvement over the years. From data analysis to efficient software systems to surgery machines, to providing treatment tracking and recommendations, engineering truly saves lives daily.

As you work to embrace more creativity in your work, let me share a few ideas and actions you can take:

Be More Curious

When we suppress creativity itโ€™s often because we feel like we already have all the right answers. Do we actually? Rarely. Different people with different perspectives can see things in completely new ways than perhaps we would. This is good!

One way to start considering creative ideas and not getting set in our ways is to be more curious. If someone disagrees with you, get curious about why and ask more questions about how they are feeling about the issue. If someone comes to you with a problem, spend a bit more time considering the issue before you rush into providing a solution. Curiosity can open our minds to new ideas while continuing to embrace the rational thinking that engineers value so much.

Embrace Failure and Try Again

The struggle with creation is that we often โ€œfail,โ€ and this fear of failure can keep us from exploring different approaches or possibilities.

How will you unleash your creativity this week?

Engineer of the WEEK

1856 - 1915

Engineer - Inventor

Nikola Tesla, born on July 10, 1856, in Smiljan, Croatia (then part of the Austrian Empire), was a brilliant and enigmatic inventor, engineer, and futurist. He immigrated to the United States in the late 19th century and quickly gained recognition for his innovative work in electrical engineering. Tesla's contributions include the development of alternating current (AC) electrical systems, numerous inventions related to electricity and magnetism, and pioneering work in wireless communication. Despite his incredible accomplishments, he faced financial challenges and spent his later years in relative obscurity, but his legacy as one of history's greatest inventors endures, with his name associated with countless technological advancements and the Tesla electric car company bearing his name in the 21st century.

Is your cloud storage provider prioritizing privacy and security?

In a world where data breaches and cyber-attacks are becoming more frequent, securing your files and sensitive information is crucial.
That's why secure cloud storage is more important than ever before, especially if you're using it to store sensitive information. And that's precisely where Internxt comes in.
