๐ Job Outlooks for Engineers
If you look at some of the news and hear some of the talks about the job market these days, youโll probably hear plenty of people sharing a doom-and-gloom outlook. Sure, there are significant layoffs still happening at some of the largest companies in the world.
But does that mean all hope is lost? Not for a secondโฆ
Data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics and summarized by the Society for Women Engineers actually shows a pretty solid outlook through 2031. The top areas of growth include computer science (21 percent growth), software developers (26 percent growth), chemical engineers (14 percent growth), and industrial engineers (10 percent growth).
In fact, the only engineering function expected to go down significantly was nuclear engineers.
๐ CAREER TIPS
The Sure Path to a More Fulfilling Engineering Career
Fulfillment. It almost seems like a buzzword in our modern world when we talk about jobs, careers, and life goals.
It makes sense - if you consider Maslow's hierarchy of needs, most people in first-world countries have the basic physiological and safety needs taken care of. At that point, they start looking for more in the higher areas of the hierarchy. Fulfillment may not have a specific spot in the pyramid, but it certainly sits in those top three spots.
But here is the lesson for today: The surest way to experience more fulfillment in your engineering career is by helping other people.
Think about the people who have helped you throughout your life and career. Don't you feel a greater sense of love and connection with them? Don't you have more respect for them and elevate them to a higher status? Don't you feel like they are on their way to living their best life?
Serving and helping others can completely shift our outlook about the environments, circumstances, and challenges we face. Rather than being resentful of others, service can change our relationships and help us see the truth about others.

Tesla's contributions include the development of alternating current (AC) electrical systems, numerous inventions related to electricity and magnetism, and pioneering work in wireless communication. ๐ BOOK RECOMMENDATION
โณ The Motive: Why So Many Leaders Abdicate Their Most Important Responsibilities by Patrick Lencioni
Instead of teaching you how to be a leader, it gets you to question why you want to be a leader. This book is written as a leadership fable. You get to follow along with the characters to see their growth along the way and have your own comparisons along with them.
In addition to provoking readers to honestly assess themselves, Lencioni presents action steps for changing their approach in five key areas. In doing so, he helps leaders avoid the pitfalls that stifle their organizations and even hurt the people they are meant to serve.
